Time Trial Series

What is the Time Trial Series?

Time Trial Event

Race one of our time trial routes in the last week of every month. There will be a 5 km & 8 km option at each location.


There will be set routes at different locations so runners from the same area will do the same route or feel free to try one of the other locations

Leader Board

Once you have done your time trial, submit your result and at the end of the time trial week each time trial venue will publish the results of the time trial.

Series Challenge

Time trials will continue until we are allowed to race again. Runners top three times will count towards being crowned a series challenge for each Race one of our time trial routes in the last week of every month

We have select the 3 locations where our biggest training groups are based. Each location has a 5 km and an 8 km time trial option. Click on the routes below for more information on each route.

How to enter our Virtual Time Trials


Sign Up

This is a free time trial challenge and is open to all runners. Just fill out your details with the link provided above


Time Trial Week

Before time trial week you will receive an email with the time trial routes. You will have one week in which to complete your time trial. Please start at the set locations so we can standardise the route for everyone.


Submit Results

Please submit your times via the link that is included in the email. All results are on an honesty system


Leader Board

Once all results are in we will post the leader board for each time trial on our Facebook page.


Series Challenge

At the end of the Time Trial Series we will use everyone's top 3 times to determine the overall leader board!

FFA Team

Fitness From Africa was started by Marcel and has been assisting recreational and professional runners for over 20 years. Our runners cover distances from school sprint up to Comrade elite runners. In 2008 FFA had its first introduction to trail running and now has a strong following of both road and trail runners

Marcel Viljoen

Running Coach & Exercise Specialist

Marcel  is the founder of Fitness From Africa with over 25 years of coaching experience with success stories from 100m to the Comrades marathon! He has a best time for 10 km of 31min and completed nearly 40 standard marathons. He is also an authorised IAAF athlete representative.

Brendan McBirnie

B.Sc (hons) Sport Science

Brendan started his running career in Primary School as a cross country and track runner. In high school he was coached by Marcel before studying sport science at varsity. He went on to racing 10 km and 21 km with a 36min 10 km time before turning his attention to trail and stage races.
